OKCoin raises $10 million – Investment Round Up

Series A

Gravie, the Minneapolis-based health insurance platform, has gained $10.5 million in a Series A funding round. Aberdare Ventures led the investment, which saw participation from current investor FirstMark Capital. Total backing behind Gravie now comes to $13 million. The investment will facilitate the growth of operations and empower the company to deploy solutions in all 50 states by next year.

OKCoin has gained $10 million in a Series A round. CoinDesk reports Ceyuan led the funding; Mandra Capital and VenturesLab contributed along with angels. OKCoin alleges it is China’s biggest bitcoin exchange by trading volume, CoinDesk says.

Series B

Palo Alto-based Boxfish has raised $7 million in fresh funding, according to reports. GigaOm says Atlantic Bridge led the startup’s Series B round, while Samsung made a strategic investment and existing backers Naya Ventures and T-Ventures contributed. The company helps viewers with TV content discovery. AT&T, TiVo and DirecTV are among the companies Boxfish collaborates with, according to its LinkedIn.

Series G

Milpitas, CA-based Aquantia, which provides Ethernet connectivity services, has secured $16 million in a Series G funding round led by Xilinx, Inc. Current backers invested as well. Ten Gigabit per second (Gbps) Ethernet switches were forecasted to drive $13 billion in sales by 2016, according to a 2012 report by Dell’Oro Group. Aquantia delivers 10Gigabit Ethernet ICs.

M&A

U.K.-based Vodafone has agreed to pick up Madrid’s Grupo Corporativo Ono, S.A. In total, the consideration will come to €7.2 billion ($10.0 billion). Ono leverages Spain’s biggest next-generation network “with approximately 7.2 million homes released to marketing serving 1.9 million customers in 13 of Spain’s 17 regions,” according to a press release.

Talent management software company Netchemia LLC of Prairie Village, Kansas, has bought SchoolSpring, a South Burlington, Vermont company that provides educators employment solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed. All 20 of SchoolSpring’s employees will head to Netchemia.
