Mojn raises $4m in Series A round of funding – Investment Round Up

Series A

Mojn, which leverages retargeting emails, has raised $4 million in a Series A funding. Northzone (in Copenhagen and London) led the investment with Notion Capital in London and Zoar Invest in Copenhagen contributing. Mojn, a Copenhagen-based SaaS company has lately deployed services for e-commerce businesses and introduced an office in London. Mojn previously secured $3 million in seed funding over five years and its banners prove, on average, 400 percent more effective than the usual banner ads or campaigns by Google Adword, according to a  press release from Notion Capital.

Flashnotes, a platform for selling school notes and help, has received $3.6 million in a Series A round led by Stage 1 Ventures. Runa Capital, SoftBank Capital and Atlas Ventures joined the funding. The Boston company had previously raised $3.3 million in seed funding, according to CrunchBase.

Funding

Japanese software developer TriFort has gained $400 million yen ($3.97 million) from the World Innovation Lab (WiL). Venture capitalist Gen Isayama recently launched the investment fund, reported at $300 million.

M&A

London mobile money solutions provider Monitise has acquired Istanbul-based Pozitron, a mobile technology venture. According to a release, the deal between the two companies consisted entirely of shares: nearly 36 million valued at £24 million ($39 million) issued now “with an earn-out consideration” that could reach £36 million payable in cash or shares. This will be decided by Monitise, pending the realization of certain goals over three years. Monitise Americas is a 2010 Red Herring North America Top 100 company and a 2010 Red Herring Global Top 100 company. Pozitron is a 2013 Red Herring Europe Top 100 company.

Multimedia corporation Tribune Company has acquired Gracenote, which provides music and video metadata and recognition services. The acquisition process begun in December. Chicago-based Tribune picked up the Emeryville music tech company up from Sony Corporation for $170 million. In a release, Gracenote claims to be the most trafficked music data source in the world.
