The solution? 118118, a British directory assistance company, wrapped the lampposts with a rugby-goalpost-like cushion on the street where the accidents commonly occur. A publicity stunt? Maybe. A solution to the problem? I'd say so. Although, it did look a little ridiculous...

<p>&nbsp;</p>The bumpers were removed 24 hours later, but the debate rages on. Should such a precaution be put in action permanently? Last year New York State Senator Carl Kruger introduced a bill to ban wearing earphones in crosswalks in New York's large urban areas. The bill was never passed, but he has reintroduced it this year. 
<p>For now, I'd say watch where you're going, and look both ways before you cross. <p>Mr. Sliter, who was caught in an Internet sting 4 years ago, is "not asking the community to condone what he did, but to give him a chance." </p>
<p>Mr. Sliter was arrested after arranging to have sex with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl. Current Mayor Don Hudson has expressed his feelings on the matter, stating that "a sex offender serving as mayor put a stigma on the city." </p>
<p>Can I get an "Amen?"
