Casual games web site Pogo.com announced Thursday that it has opened up a new studio in Austin, Texas.
The initial 12-person team’s first title is Pictureka Museum Mayhem, which will be released in November on Pogo’s site for $20.
Pogo Austin will join EA’s Bioware studio in Austin. EA bought Pogo in 2001 for $40 million.
Pogo.com offers free advertising-supported games, ranging from puzzle games to arcade and sports games. Players can also pay a subscription fee to join Club Pogo, which removes the ads and provides “premium benefits.”
In a statement, Pogo General Manager Andrew Pedersen expressed his excitement in the new Austin office because of the “enthusiastic and knowledgeable game development community.”
Pogo also has studios in Redwood City, California, and Shanghai, China.
