Alfresco secures $45m funding round

Series C

Xamarin, a mobile software development tool provider, has raised $54 million in Series C funding in a round led by Insight Venture Partners. Previous investors Floodgate, Charles River Ventures, Ignition Partners and Lead Edge all participated. Xamarin has now raised $82 million to date and plans to expand internationally with the new funds.

India-based online taxi service TaxiForSure has raised a Series C round of funding worth $30 million led by Accel Partners, according to the Times of India. Accel India, Bessemer Venture Partners and Helion Ventures also participated. The company aims to expand to reach 30 cities by 2015.

Series D

DoubleDutch, a mobile events app, has secured a $19 million Series D investment round led by Mithril Capital Management. Index Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and Bullpen Capital also participated. DoubleDutch which provides data-driven event technology, plans to use the funds to expand its global presence, deliver new features and build out its team. “Conferences compress 90 days of interactions into 72 hours, but unfortunately few of these connections survive re-entry into daily life,” said Ajay Royan, Co-founder and Managing General Partner of Mithril.

Funding

Alfresco, an enterprise content management company and Red Herring Top 100 North America winner, has raised $45 million in new funding led by Sageview Capital. Existing investors Accel Partners, Mayfield Fund and SAP Ventures also participated. The company will use the funds to invest in marketing, add sales people and expand development. “Alfresco has clearly established itself as the de facto ECM platform for customers who desire smart and modern software that unlocks the power of business-critical content, process and collaboration,” said Ned Gilhuly, Founding Partner at Sageview Capital. Alfresco has now raised $65.4 million to date.

Local services marketplace Thumbtack has raised $100 million in new funding, in a round led by Google Capital. Existing investors Tiger Global Management, Sequoia Capital and Javelin Venture Partners all participated. The company plans to use the funds to expand its team and launch a nationwide marketing campaign. Thumbtack has a real opportunity to transform how local professionals find new customers,” said David Lawee, General Partner at Google Capital. “The Thumbtack team is highly impressive and the opportunity in front of them is enormous. We’re excited to be a part of it.”

Guavus, a provider of big data analytics solutions, has raised $20 million in new funding from investors including Artiman Ventures, Sofinnova Ventures, Intel Capital, SingTel Innov8, Investor Growth Capital, QuestMark Partners and Goldman Sachs. The company will use the new funds to bolster its analytically powered applications.
