Midway may be teetering on the brink of serious trouble, but other companies
seem to have some faith in the company.
Ubisoft announced today that it would publish Midway’s
upcoming game Wheelman. In addition to distributing the game in North
America, South America, Australia,
New Zealand, France,
Germany, Austria,
Ireland, and
the UK, Ubisoft
will also handle sales and marketing in these regions.
Vin Diesel is involved with Wheelman, lending his likeness
to protagonist Milo Burik. There will also be a film released that is,
surprisingly, based on the game and not vice versa.
The action game will be set in an open ended world with an
emphasis on driving.
With Diesel’s name behind it, Midway is hoping to drum up
enough hype to drive sales and, ultimately, save its own hide.
Wheelman will release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 20.
