The Seattle based company has responded to the US District courts' request to suspend the distribution and sale of the RealDVD software due to the pending lawsuit bought by the big Hollywood film studios.
RealDVD was introduced online lastweek for a download fee of $29.99. The software allows users to make perfect replicas of DVD's.
The RealNetworks website was made inactive on Friday, but now tells visitors: "Rest assured, we
will continue to work diligently to provide you with software that
allows you to make a legal copy of your DVDs for your own use."
As to when the software is available remains to be seen as the six major studios have told the software company to 'get real,' so to speak, and requested a restraining order arguing that the software bypasses the copyright protection built into all DVD's.
