Michael Moore Releases Free Movie Online

Michael Moore, the maverick left-wing filmmaker is trying to encourage America's younger generation to get  motivated to vote in the upcoming election on November 4th. The Academy Award winning director, plans to release his documentary "Slacker Uprising" for free online.

"Slacker Uprising," is a documantary of the 54-year old's tour of the swing states during the 2004 presidential election and aims to attract millions of YouTube's 'slacker' generation to the film and hopefully get them to registered to vote.

The film is a re-edited version of Captain Mike Across America, which played at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007 to tepid response. The 'Slacker Uprising' free download is only available to those residing in the US and Canada and is available for free online viewing on the Lycos Cinema platform.

The movie features performances by Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam), Roseanne Barr, Tom Morello (of Rage Against The Machine) and more.

This is a landmark step as the motion picture represents one of the first times a prominent movie director has released a movie online for free. No doubt this will cause a bit of a stir with the distribution channels in Hollywood and beyond.

No word on if McCain and Palin are planing to have some sort of retort made by a one of their supporters. Maybe Ted Nugent could put on a concert or something for them, calling it a Bridge to Nowhere. You never know, stranger things have happened.
