More Ethanol for Iowa

VeraSun Energy, a South Dakota, producer of ethanol and distiller of grains, has opened up another ethanol biorefinery. This time it's near Dyersville, Iowa. The facility will produce 110 million gallons of ethanol per year from 39 million bushels of corn and produce.

Ethanol fuel is manufactured from common crops and is cleaner burning than oil.

“We are please to bring another large-scale, environmentally friendly ethanol production facility on-line in the state of Iowa,”  VeraSun CEO Don Endres said in a statement, adding that ethanol production is “helping our nation to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.”

The company now has 14 biorefineries in operation throughout 8 states, including Iowa, South Dakota, Indianapolis, and Minnesota, with the Dyersville facility the 5th VeraSun facility in Iowa.
