San Francisco-based Webcarzz Inc., a developer and publisher
of online games, announced today that it has raised $4 million in Series A
funding in a round led by Meakem Becker Venture Capital.
The company
is working with MCS Games, creator of casual
games such as “Thwart Poker” and “Stomping Grounds,” to develop a casual
multiplayer online game.
“Together
with MCS Games, we are creating a very
unique and highly engaging online destination aimed at a very specific and
underserved market segment,” said Webcarzz CEO Chris Bergstresser in a
statement.
To reach
out to this “underserved market segment,” the casual multiplayer online game the
company is developing will “not require fixed play patterns, or skill levels,
for success.”
Additionally,
ngmoco, the iPhone game developer I covered earlier, has disclosed that they
secured roughly $5.6 million in Series A funding a few weeks ago in a round led
by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
