ngmoco, a maker and publisher of games for the iPhone, has
raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding in a round led by Kleiner
Perkins Caufield & Byers, with Maples Investments also participating.
The funding
likely comes from KPCB’s iFund, an investment initiative geared towards the
iPhone and iPod Touch that was launched in March of this year.
It has also
been announced that William “Bing” Gordon, a partner at KPCB, will join the San
Francisco-based game publisher’s board. Gordon, who was the former Chief
Creative Officer for big-name video game maker Electronic Arts, left EA earlier
this year in order to join KPCB.
“Apple’s iPhone has the potential to be one of
the best portable gaming platforms ever created,” said Gordon. “I believe
ngmoco has the potential to produce killer apps that will help define this new
device.”
