Apple's 3G iPhone Already 'Sold-Out' Across the Pond

Apple's much anticipated launch of it's iPhone v2.0 is already causing quite a stir in Britain. The UK's carrier, O2 stated on Tuesday that with up to 13,000 applications a second coming in via its website, it was unable to cope with the frenzied online demand.

Friday's 3G iPhone launch is to take place in 70 different countries and Apple, this time around, is going after a broader 3G market by allowing carriers to subsidize the iPhone which will be exclusively carried by Apple and both O2 and Carphone Warehouse in the UK. This allows the carriers to potentially give the slick white-gold touch-screen decvice away for 'free' and get their money back on the service contracts.

The UK, much like the US, is on the brink of an economic recession, but that doesn't seem to quell, or bother the UK's iPhone fanatics. No doubt, there will be queues of desperate gadget geeks lining up outside Apple stores around the globe, perhaps they are even beginning to gather already.

My advice is to all you Apple stalwarts is if you can manage to wait-it-out for a month, or so, until the frenzy dies down, you'll be much happier, trust me. Just assume the Lotus position, take a deep breath and go to your happy place, imagining all the chaos and time lost filling out service contracts that you will avoid and you'll feel much better.

Ohmmmm....
