Google to Yahoo's Rescue...

Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page along with CEO Eric Schmidt would like to work out a way to make nice with Yahoo, despite Microsoft's continued interest in the struggling search company. Speaking at Britain's Google Zeitgeist conference in Hertfordshire, England, the three Google executives appear to be the knights in shining white armour that could rescue Jerry Yang's Yahoo.

This comes on the back of continued discussions with the former Redmond suitor. According to The Times, in London, talks between Yahoo and Microsoft were ongoing over the weekend and it seems the jilted Steve Ballmer and his Microsoft are still interested in a deal with Yahoo for the search advertising side of Yahoo's business. This despite a collapse in negotiations regarding a complete Microsoft take over earlier in the month.

Brin, according to the London based paper, offered Yang an olive branch, "Refuge within Google" and that the possibility of a deal between Yahoo and Google was not out of the question.

The gauntlet has once again thrown down. Meanwhile the black knight in this caper, the billionaire investor Carl Icahn, is gathering his fellow knights to lead a proxy charge at Yahoo's annual general meeting in July.
