Vodafone Group Lines Up Ghana

Vodafone, the world's largest telecom company in terms of revenue, with an estimated market value of $200 billion is trying to get bigger. The mobile network and communications giant is continuing its quest to try and conquer Africa's communications networks, despite having a $38 billion 'combination' takeover offer rejected by South Africa's MTN in a similar multi-pronged bid over the weekend.

Vodafone's South African joint venture, Vodacom, was one of three bidders for Ghana Telecom, along with France Telecom and Portugal Telecom but now it looks like Vodafone is also talking directly to the Ghanaian government.

Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin, is revising strategy and approaching the continent on a country-by-country basis, as an independent, rather than as a conglomerate.
