Looks like former Sony Computer Entertainment America head Kaz Hirai just got another promotion - news reports from earlier today indicate that PlayStation father Ken Kutaragi will be leaving Sony June 19, the same day as the company's annual shareholder meeting.
Mr. Kutaragi will be replaced by Mr. Hirai, who in November left Sony Computer Entertainment America for a job in Japan as president and group COO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Mr. Kutaragi was also promoted in November, moving up to the position of representative director, chairman, and group CEO.
Mr. Hirai will now be in charge of the PlayStation brand going forward, while Mr. Kutaragi will hold the title of honorary chairman and assist Sony CEO Howard Stringer in an advisory capacity.
