Message:
Yahoo rolled out a beta version of its calendar service Wednesday that lets users share calendars more easily and add photos from their Flickr photo service accounts.

The revamped calendar is based on Ajax technology from Zimbra, acquired for $350 million in cash by Yahoo September 2007.

The new service is designed to nudge more of Yahoo’s 278 million monthly web mail users to use the integrated calendar.

Shares of Yahoo continued their slide Wednesday, falling 5.1 percent to $13.84.

The calendar includes a zoom feature designed to make it easier to add new entries, drag-and-drop functions, alerts via e-mail, instant message or short message service and an integrated to-do list.

The new calendar will work with calendar services from Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft, AOL and Google, allowing users to share calendar data with friends and subscribe to  iCal-based public calendars.
