What’s a venture-backed company to do when the global economy quakes?
In the case of Adaptive Planning, the answer is to turn lemons into lemonade. The enterprise software company based in Mountain View, California, has rolled out Recession Survival Kit software timed for the current bleak economic outlook.
Adaptive Planning, whose “cloud” budgeting and reporting software competes against products from SAP’s BusinessObjects and IBM’s Cognos, is marketing the package to executives desperate to get a handle on their cash positions and reconfigure their financial plans in rocky economic times.
Adaptive has reeled in more than $29 million in venture funding.
"In a recession…normal planning cycles are thrown out the door and rapid scenario analysis becomes essential," Adaptive Planning Chief Executive William Soward said in a statement.
In January, Canada’s RBC Venture Partners led a $10 million venture round with participation from prior investors Cardinal Venture Capital, Monitor Ventures, and ONSET Ventures.
