The world’s largest privately held sailing yacht, owned by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers founder Tom Perkins, is set to drop anchor in the San Francisco Bay on Saturday.
The boat, dubbed The Maltese Falcon, is set to pass under the Golden Gate bridge on Saturday at 2 p.m. and is expected to be anchored off Belvedere. The 289-foot yacht’s masts are 191-feet high and will clear the bottom of the bridge by only 20 feet when it passes under, according to the Marin Independent Journal.
Mr. Perkins’ monster yacht is considered the largest yacht in the world of it kind, an ego vessel fitting of a man’s giant accomplishments. The legendary Silicon Valley figure’s venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins, has backed some of the biggest names in tech.
Investments in marquee startups like Google, Netscape, Amazon, and Sun over the years have made Kleiner Perkins a giant and its founders worth millions.
