Activision Bags FreeStyleGames

Activision on Friday said  it has agreed to acquire UK-based video game developer FreeStyleGames.

The studio will stay in its Leamington Spa, UK, location. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The developer, responsible for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 break-dancing rhythm title B-Boy, focuses primarily on music-based games, and is currently localizing downloadable content for the Guitar Hero games.

The acquisition move comes a little over a month before the highly anticipated North American release of Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Considering its success with the Guitar Hero franchise, which has sold more than 22 million units worldwide, Activision aims to strike another chord with consumers with more music-based titles via FreeStyleGames.
