Google has acquired Korean firm TNC, the firm’s chief executive said in a blog Friday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
In the blog, Chang-Won Kim described TNC, whose full name is Tatter and Company, as “Korea’s Automattic—a company that develops a cool blogging platform” favored by “A-list bloggers.”
The company was founded by Chester Roh and provides blogging services to more than 400,000 users, according to Mr. Kim.
“While other blog services seem to be exploring the idea of integrating social networks with blogs only lately, our new blog service Textcube had already implemented the feature much earlier,” he said.
TNC was backed by Softbank Ventures and was a Red Herring 100 Asian company.
Mr. Kim said that TNC is “hopelessly behind in terms of globalizing” the Textcube product, but that as part of Google, TNC would initiate a push into foreign markets.
