Mac fanatics are poised to pounce.
Apple on Tuesday said the next version of its OS X, known as Leopard, will go on sale October 26.
The release marks the sixth upgrade to its latest version of its operating system. Among other updates, the software features a redesigned way to organize files for its desktop.
It will sell for $129 at Apple retail stores, resellers, and its online stores, where it is available for pre-order. The software will be available for sale at 6 p.m.
Separately, Apple on Tuesday said its iPhone will go on sale in France on November 29 in an exclusive deal with carrier Orange.
