The decision by game console makers Nintendo and Sony to offer complete web browsers for their latest hardware could be a boon for the companies, given the Net’s power to deliver unprecedented access to a plethora of different media. But keep in mind this also includes sites some folks find objectionable. What follow are examples of a few new efforts to expand the reach of the new systems beyond traditional boxed content.
For concerned parents, each console has its own set of parental controls that can disable web browsers and limit access to disc-based games based on ratings from the Entertainment Software Rating Board.
