MTV Games and Harmonix have announced more details regarding
the upcoming Beatles game, including the release date and price.
The game, now titled The Beatles: Rock Band, will release in
North America and Europe on the
PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the Wii on September 9 this year.
While the game will utilize the guitar, drum, and microphone
peripherals found in the first two Rock Band games, it will also include
additional peripherals “modeled after instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George
Harrison, and Ringo Starr throughout their career.”
No word on what the instruments may be, though here's hoping
for a sitar peripheral.
The game will see involvement from Beatles members Paul
McCartney and Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono Lennon, and producer
Giles Martin, the son of famed Beatles producer George Martin.
While the game will have the Rock Band brand attached to its
title, Harmonix stands firm by its initial claim that the game will be a
standalone title built from the ground up. This probably means that you won't
be playing Aerosmith on The Beatles: Rock Band. The company hasn't released any
details regarding possible downloadable content.
The game itself will cost $60, while the guitar will cost $100 and the entire bundle will
sell for $250.
